Latin Update

Salve,

Here is a quick update on class today and plans for the week.  We are working on Lesson 3 this week.  Last week we worked on Lessons 1 and 2.  Today we were able to translate a paragraph together found on p. 318 of Henle II.

I will be following the Challenge II guide closely this year as to scheduled homework items.  The students are to use the weekly Latin schedule sheets sent home last week (paper copy) and also attached to one of the emails that went out last week. to organize their Latin studies for the week.  They may need some help at first planning out how to complete the items listed in the Challenge guide over the course of the week.

In addition to the items listed in the Challenge guide, I did add two additional items.  I sent home an article discussing a method of translation which I would like them to read and be ready to discuss for next class.  I also sent home a quiz on Lessons 1 and 2.  It is my desire that they look at the Quiz today or tomorrow so that they understand what the quiz will be like and what it is covering, but that they then give it to you, their parent, for safekeeping until Monday when they will take it at home.  Completed quizzes should be returned to me for grading on Tuesday.  Note, this may seem like a huge addition but the Challenge Guide has not actually scheduled ANY assessments except for the midterm and final.  I think it would be remiss to wait until then to give the students an assessment.
